The Beginning

About Us

The Corporation for Healthy Homes & Economic Development (CHHED) is a private nonprofit organization incorporated in 2003 with the vision of its founder to improve the quality and quantity of  decent housing for limited income families. 

 

At the root of our mission are concepts such as education to empower, redevelopment, public/private collaboration, and aggressive intervention.  Since inception CHHED has kept this vision and improved upon it.  CHHED continues to serve the community through the commitment of a dedicated Staff and Board of Directors.  CHHED’s goals over the next 5 years remain:

 

¨ Increase homeownership for limited income families

¨ Foster better housing choices and increase homeownership sustainability through education and training.

¨ Improve quality senior owner occupied housing through rehabilitation.

¨ Aggressively aid landlords with compliance of Maryland Lead Based Paint Laws.

¨ Increase the quantity of Healthy Homes through education.

¨ Reduce community blight.

¨ Encourage private investment through partnerships.

¨ Develop self sustaining impactful community programs.
