Housing rehabilitative services are provided to age and income eligible homeowners through direct grants administered by CHHED’s and/or our partnerships with local, state, and federal government. 

Housing/Credit Counseling

CHHED works with first-time homebuyers to help them learn more about the home buying process, qualify for mortgages, and sustain their new home through project H.O.P.E.

Healthy Homes

CHHED works with landlords and renters in the state of Maryland to make rental housing safer and to ensure that compliance requirements of Maryland Department of the Environment Lead laws are adhered to by rental property owners. To prevent childhood lead poisoning contact our office.

One of the greatest values of  CHHED’s housing programs  is the knowledge gained by applicants as it relates to credit and personal finances.

 

The Corporation for Healthy Homes has created  “D2I” a Debt to Income Ratio Calculator that compares your income to you debt and also provides tips on how to manage debt.

 

 As a practical matter your monthly debt when compared to your income should not exceed 30 percent.  Use the D2I Calculator (xls. format) to determine your financial position.
